A prominent businessman from Karnataka, Mumthaz Ali, who is the brother of Janata Dal (Secular) MLC BM Farooq and former Congress MLA Mohiuddin Bava, has gone missing. His damaged BMW car was found near the Kulur bridge in Mangaluru, police confirmed on Sunday.
According to reports, Mumthaz Ali disappeared on Sunday morning, sparking a major search operation by the police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Preliminary investigations suggest that around 3 a.m., he left his house in his car and was seen driving around the city. At approximately 5 a.m., his car stopped near the Kulur bridge, showing signs of an accident. His daughter alerted the local police shortly after discovering the situation.
Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal stated, “There are indications that he might have jumped from the bridge,” prompting the deployment of the SDRF and the Coast Guard to search the river.
The investigation remains ongoing, with officials looking into all possible angles. The sudden disappearance of Mumthaz Ali has caused concern among his family members and supporters, who are anxiously awaiting news of his whereabouts. The local administration has prioritized the search, intensifying efforts to locate him in the river and surrounding areas.
